Ingredients:
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 egg
1tsp vanilla extract
Icing and sprinkles for decoration (optional)
Instructions:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside
In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the and vanilla extract until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until dough comes together. Be careful not to over mix.
Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape into disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375 and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out one portion of the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cookies are completely cooled, you can decorate them with icing and sprinkles if desired.
